European kick-off for Merli at Col Saint Pierre in France

On Sunday, Team Blue City Motorsport driver Christian Merli in his Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM will be lining up for the first round of the European Hill Climb Championship. The 47th Col Saint Pierre hill climb at St. Jean du Gard in southern France is contested over three race heats, of which two count for the European championship. For the team from Trentino it is a trip of around 1000 km.

The reigning champion describes the French track
“A short initial straight, then a winding part, followed by a fast and technically very demanding section to be taken in high gears. We’ve been working day and night over the past month, and our car is ready. I’m very happy, and the rest is now up to me. We rely on the weather forecast. For now, they are predicting very low temperatures, just 1 degree at the start.”

The opponents
“Our reference point is certainly Faggioli, but let’s not forget the French drivers such as Petit and Schatz, who will be racing on home turf. On our team this year there is also Christoph Lampert from Austria at the wheel of his Osella FA 30. At his maiden start at the Salita del Costo he recently finished 3rd overall.”
