On Sunday Christian Merli will be racing his Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM at the 55th Trofeo Fagioli at Gubbio in central Italy, the 2nd round of the Italian hill climb championship CIVM. Two race heats on the 4.150 km track, which has a difference in height of 270 m. At Nevegal, the first CIVM round, the Team Blue City Motorsport leader won both runs.
Christian’s comments before the race
“Gubbio is an extraordinary event. Unfortunately spectators won’t be allowed due to the Covid-19 emergency. There will be two race heats. The track is very special; you take every little error with you to the finish line, and every tenth of a second counts. A very fast race with bends which have a very wide radius, and three hairpins in the final section. We took the victory here last year, setting a new track record. It will be a fierce battle with my direct opponent, Simone Faggioli. It’s definitely going to be a great challenge. It won’t be easy, but we’ll try to aim for the top step of the podium.”
