Christian Merli starting in Ascoli

Christian Merli, Team Blue City Motorsport leader, has gone to Ascoli in central Italy to race his Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM in the 57th edition of the Coppa Paolino Teodori, which is the 7th round of the European Hill Climb Championship and the 4th round of the Italian championship. The Scuderia Vimotorsport driver is leading the European standings with 125 points, together with Andrea Bormolini, followed by the Czech Vitver with 118 points and Faggioli with 111. In the Italian championship Magliona is first with 48 points, followed by Cubeda with 37.5 and Merli, who left out the Fasano race to grab the overall win at Glasbach in Germany that weekend, with 30.

Busy on two fronts
“True, I’m taking part in the European championship and in those races in Italy where there are no scheduling clashes. Ascoli counts for both the European and the Italian championships, and we’re aiming for the maximum number of points possible. Last year we won Race 1 and were second in Race 2, snatching the overall victory on accumulated times.”

Wladoil Racing
“This race marks the start of an important partnership with Wladoil Racing, who will be supplying the fuel for our races.”

The track in Christian’s words
“Rather special, with quite a slippery surface. Two runs of 5.031 km each. The first section is mixed with narrow bends. Then the straight stretch in the middle, a series of hairpins and a fast stretch at the end.”
