Christian Merli dominates Race 2 at Gubbio
Christian Merli in his Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM wins Race 2 of the 56th Trofeo Fagioli, the seventh round of the Italian hill climb championship CIVM. Two race heats of 4.156 km each. In the first race heat the champion from Trentino is second behind Simone Faggioli.
“We’re not entirely happy. Race 1 this morning was hard. Our car was skidding a few times, and Simone did very well. This is a track where you take the slightest error with you to the finish line. In Race 2 things went better, although there was more dirt on the road. But I won Group E2-SS, the single-seaters.”
Merli leads the first official practice run of the Gubbio – Madonna della Cima, 0”45 ahead of Simone Faggioli in his Norma. Cubeda with the other Osella FA 30 comes in third, 3”32 behind. In the second practice in the afternoon positions are reversed: Faggioli finishes first, only 28 hundredths of a second ahead of Merli.
