Christian Merli racing at the Trento – Bondone

This coming Sunday will see the 72nd edition of the Trento – Bondone hill climb, organised by the Scuderia Trentina in collaboration with Automobile Club Trento. It is the 5th round of the Italian hill climb championship CIVM and it also counts towards the Italian hill climb trophy, the FIA Int. Hill Climb Cup and the FIA Historic Hill Climb Championship. The track starts in Montevideo; it is 17.300 km long and has 42 hairpins and a myriad of bends. Christian Merli will be taking the start with the Osella PA 21 4C Turbo.
The official practice runs start at 9am on Saturday; the race starts at 10am on Sunday. 250 entries have been received, of which 72 are local drivers and 14 are new on this track.
So far Christian Merli has won all rounds of the European hill climb championship; in France, Austria, Spain, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Christian Merli makes a one-off appearance in the CIVM
“We got back from the European championship round in the Czech Republic on Tuesday night and started working on the PA 21 4C Turbo with its 1170 cm3 Peugeot-derived engine immediately. I want to develop it as well as possible. We’ve been working on the cooling of the engine and the brakes. No test, unfortunately. We’ll see how it goes after the first session on Saturday. I’ll be there for my fans, but not with the FA 30, which won’t make its return until the next European round at Ascoli.”
