Christian Merli racing the Nova Proto NP 01 Cosworth in Croatia

On Sunday Christian Merli will be racing in the 6th edition of the Hillclimb Monsters event dedicated to Hungarian driver Istvan Kavecz, who was known as “Bongo”. It will be held on the track of the Nagrada Grada Skradina hill climb in Croatia. The driver from Trentino dominated both practice and race runs in his Nova Proto NP01 Cosworth here last year, establishing a new track record.

“The event is dedicated to Kavecz, the Hungarian driver known as Bongo, who is much missed. We already took part in the 5th edition of the memorial event with our Nova Proto NP01 Cosworth. The track is situated between Zadar and Split, about 400 km from Trieste. It’s a beautiful place, and the organisers are very hospitable. Friends and fans have asked us to be there. There will be three practice runs on Saturday and two race runs on Sunday. The track is 3.385 km long and has quite a few medium-slow bends with straights to be taken in sixth gear.”
