Christian Merli starting in Sicily

With his Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM Christian Merli is taking the start at the 62nd edition of the Cronoscalata Monte Erice in Trapani province in Sicily, the penultimate round of the Italian hill climb championship CIVM on Sunday. The event has a scoring coefficient of 1.5, so instead of the usual 20 there are 30 points up for grabs. After deduction of the scores to be dropped as per the regulations, Simone Faggioli currently leads the championship standings with 75 points, followed by Christian with 70.

Christian’s comments
“We’re determined as usual, but it won’t be easy. The asphalt is slippery, given the proximity to the sea, and the track is technical, with 13 hairpin bends and low walls on the sides. In the final section you arrive in the woods, and at this time of year it will certainly be humid. There are two race heats of 5.730 km each and, as in the other events, they count separately, so there are 30 points at stake. We won here in 2008 with the Lola B99, in 2014 with the Osella PA 2000 Honda and two years ago with the FA 30.”
